Bowling Coach of Pakistan Cricket Team Waqar Younis expressed satisfaction on the performance of pacers despite the recent whitewash against New Zealand.
According to the details, Waqar Younis while addressing a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore said that, ‘we try to prepare players for the tough circumstances of Test cricket but the conditions did not allow us to fully prepare them.’
He said that “I am proud of our bowlers. I have not come to hide from anything. The tour was tough.”
He added that there were issues stemming from the coronavirus. We played well in the first Test while in the second catch we dropped catches and had issues with the no balls.”
The cricket legend added that, “We will perform well against South Africa. We will keep making progress in the future.”
He also backed young fast-bowler Naseem Shah despite a below-par New Zealand tour.
“Naseem Shah has performed well at home and has also taken a hat-trick. He is learning fast. Other bowlers have also had massive improvements despite the epidemic,” Younis said.
National cricket head coach Misbah-ul-Haq also while addressing press conference yesterday said Misbah-ul-Haq said the team tried best on the field during the series but unfortunately results did not go their way.
Former Skipper added that “The novel coronavirus is somehow affecting the performances of players. It’s bothering them physically and mentally. It’s a big factor; we are worried about how to continue in these circumstances.”
Pakistan lost the three-match T20I series and two Tests against New Zealand.
