During the ongoing sixth edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Karachi, the fielding coach of PSL franchise Karachi Kings, Kamran Khan has been tested positive for Coronavirus.

Karachi Kings, via its official Twitter handle, confirmed that fielding coach Kamran Khan tests positive for COVD-19.

“Of the three positive COVID test results in PSL, only one from Karachi Kings, our Fielding Coach, Kamran Khan, has tested positive. We wish him and all others a speedy recovery,” the tweet read.

On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) mentioned that 244 PCR tests have been conducted after Islamabad United player Fawad Ahmed tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

The tenth match between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators got cancelled and rescheduled for March 2 (today).

PCB’s director Media Sami-ul-Hasan, while addressing a presser, said, “Since yesterday (Monday) and apart from the rapid tests, a total of 244 PCR tests have been conducted to date, resulting in three positive tests. These individuals, including two foreign players and a local player support personnel, have been quarantined at a separate floor of the team hotel.”

The statement further added, “Just under 300 people are inside the bubble, including players, support staff, families, owners, match officials, and security officers, who will undergo repeat PCR tests on Thursday.”

Sami further said that the PCR tests’ reports of one team will be revealed soon and the total number of PCR tests will exceed 280+.

Earlier on Monday, Fawad Ahmed, player of IU, had shown symptoms of COVID-19 two days ago and had been immediately isolated.

Other members of Islamabad United have returned negative tests while the Quetta Gladiators players are being tested.

Moreover, according to PCB protocol, the player tested positive, will remain in isolation until he returns with two negative results in 10 days time.

However, the rescheduled match between QG and IU will commence at 7pm at National Stadium, Karachi.
