Everyone’s favourite and Pakistan Cricket Team’s former captain Shahid Afridi is celebrating his 44th birthday on March 1 (today).

Taking to Twitter, Boom Boom Afridi extends thankfulness to his fans for all the lovely wishes and prayers.

“Thank you very much for all the lovely birthday wishes – 44 today! My family and my fans are my biggest assets. Really enjoying my stint with Multan and hope to produce match-winning performances for all MS fans,” Lala wrote.

A number of national and international fellow cricketers extend birthday greetings for the cricket legend.

However, the Universe Boss Chris Gayle also jumped in to wish Afridi to which he gave a witty reply to Gayle on Twitter.

“Happy birthday Boom Boom. #Legend wishes you many more,” he wrote.

To which Lala replied, “Chris thank u bro. Luckily u not here in Psl otherwise bowlers could have struggled bit more if you were here.”

Pakistan’s all-rounder, Shahid Afridi is as enigmatic a player as there ever was. He came as a 16-year-old into the Pakistan ODI squad and was unfazed by all the speculation regarding his real age.

He is also referred to in the media as Boom Boom and was the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team.

As a successful all-rounder, Afridi was respected for his consistent bowling that relied on a change of pace rather than spin, but he drew greater attention for his aggressive batting style.

He was the world record holder for the fastest ODI century in 37 deliveries and holds the distinction of having hit the most sixes in the history of ODI cricket.

Afridi considers himself a better bowler than batsman and has taken 395 wickets in ODI and 48 Test wickets. As of January 2020, the legend stood 2nd on the chart of most T20I wickets, with 98 wickets from 99 matches.
