A well-known ‘KRL’ cricket stadium in Rawalpindi has been renamed after former Pakistan’s cricket legend Shoaib Akhtar.

Shoaib Akhtar is much ‘humbled’ to receive this honour and said that he ‘truly has no words to thank everyone for the love and respect’. 

Taking to Twitter, the former pacer said, “I have always done by best to serve Pakistan with utmost dedication and passionate determination, with integrity. To always keep our flag high. Today and every day. I wear the star on my chest with pride. Thank you, Pakistan. Zindabad.”

Additionally, Shoaib Akhtar began his cricket career back in 1997 and had battled several injuries to serve Pakistan in 224 international games.

He had performed 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is for Pakistan snaring 178, 247, and 19 wickets in his glorious 14-year career.
