Federer has just played 13 matches in 2021 and withdrew from this year’s French Open after defeating Germany’s Dominik Koepfer, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 7-5 in the third round.

The Swiss was knocked out in the quarter-finals of Wimbledon after suffering a defeat against Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz with the score 6-3, 7-6 (7/4) and 6-0.

It was the first time when Federer lost a set 6-0 at Wimbledon and only the third time at a Grand Slam.
