Pakistan defeated Canada by 1-0 in a practice match ahead of the Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup played on Monday in Kalinga Stadium, Odhisa.

The only goal of the game was scored by the winning team’s vice-captain Moin Shakeel in the last half of the contest.

Moreover, a practice penalty shootout session also took place after the match, which was too won by Pakistan with a score of 2-4.

Captain Rana Waheed, Shakeel, Abdul Hanan and Ghazanfar Ali scored goals for the team in the penalty shootout session.

The Green Shirts have got an early momentum in the tournament as they have already defeated Chile earlier with the score of 3-0.

The Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup is scheduled to take place from November 24 to December 5, 2021.

This is the third time that India is hosting the prestigious tournament. Previously, the event was played in New Delhi in 2013 and Lucknow in 2016.

A total of sixteen nations are participating in the mega hockey event. Pakistan are placed in Group D alongside Germany, Argentina, and Egypt.

Pakistan will face Germany in the first encounter of the tournament on November 24. The game is scheduled to start at 11:30 pm PST.
