Alcaraz cruises past Carreno Busta to win Barcelona Open

Carlos Alcaraz won the Barcelona Open on Sunday, confirming his standing as one of the most promising emerging talents in men’s tennis. He defeated fellow Spaniard Pablo Carreno Busta.

Alcaraz defeated Carreno Busta 6-3, 6-2 to win his fourth career title and third this year, establishing himself as a potential candidate for the French Open, which begins next month at Roland Garros.

After victories on hard court in Miami and clay in Rio de Janeiro this season, Alcaraz had a fantastic week in Barcelona by defeating Carreno Busta in just 65 minutes.

The world number 11 lost in the third round of the Australian Open in January, but he will be one to watch at the French Open.

Since compatriot Rafael Nadal in 2005, Alcaraz will be the youngest player to reach the top ten.
