Inter Milan climbed to the top of Serie A with a 3-1 victory over Spezia on Friday, moving them ahead of AC Milan to the first place.

Marcel Brozovic’s spectacular first-time finish half an hour into the encounter on the Italian Riviera, a nice flick from Lautaro Martinez in the 72nd minute, and an Alexis Sanchez goal deep in stoppage time have put Inter a point ahead of their local rivals.

Milan, on the other hand, will recover the lead if they beat Genoa at the San Siro later on Friday.

Simone Inzaghi’s side won back-to-back three games, confirming their comeback after a difficult February and March, and leaving Spezia in 15th place, 11 points above the relegation zone.

Inter are three points behind Napoli at the third spot, with Napoli hosting Roma on Monday evening, and Juve are four points behind them ahead of their home match against Bologna on Saturday.

Brozovic’s first league goal of the season gave the visitors the lead, and it was a magnificent effort from the man who keeps Inter ticking.

The Croatia midfielder responded to Danilo D’Ambrosio’s knockdown with a stunning left-footed strike that sailed past Ivan Provedel and put Inter on the road to win.

Soon after the break, Martin Erlic flashed a header just wide, but Inter wasted a number of wonderful chances before Martinez increased their lead.

The biggest mistake happened in the 49th minute when Ivan Perisic stole the ball from Edin Dzeko’s feet just as the Bosnian was about to score his second goal.

Martinez scored his 15th league goal of the season when he met Perisic’s inswinging cross and clipped home the second.

With two minutes remaining, Giiulio Maggiore equalized with a spectacular shot, but Sanchez tapped home in the last seconds to ensure the win and give Inter the brief lead in Italy’s four-team title battle.
