Umran Malik, a teenage tear-away fast bowler, has made IPL viewing even more enjoyable with his sheer pace, which has sent shivers down the spines of opposing hitters.

During Match 40 of the IPL 2022 on Wednesday, a fan at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium displayed a poster in support of the young SunRisers Hyderabad bowler.

Umran took his maiden 5-wicket haul as he shocked Gujarat Titans hitters with raw pace, making the Wankhede audience jump out of their seats in delight.

“I’ve come to watch Umran Malik,” said the placard that drew the attention of television cameras at Mumbai’s famed venue.

On Wednesday, the 22-year-old pacer from Srinagar was on fire, taking down poles for fun as SunRisers Hyderabad were defending 195 after being brought into bat.

Umran dismissed Shubman Gill in his first over after the power play, jarring the young India opener’s stumps.

Umran welcomed Gujarat Titans pacer, Hardik Pandya, with a ferocious bouncer that landed on the upper arm and rocketed into the night sky.

Hardik was startled, but he kept going, only to be bowled out by the pacer in his next over. Umran grabbed the big wicket of the in-form batter this time with a crisp bouncer.

Umran sent back a well-set Wriddhiman Saha who was batting on 68 off 37 deliveries, making legendary hitter and on-air commentator Sunil Gavaskar jump out of his seat and scream in delight.

Umran delivered another ferocious Yorker, jarring the leg-stump and tying up Gujarat’s pursuit once again.

After dismissing David Miller and Abhinav Manohar in his final over, the youthful bowler pulled up his first 5-wicket haul.

SunRisers Hyderabad bowling Coach Dale Steyn, who has been a great supporter of the young pacer’s efforts, was overjoyed and filled with pride when he saw the pace shatter the stumps.

Umran, who has frequently hit more than 150 kph, spoke about his time working with Dale Steyn at SunRisers Hyderabad, who signed him ahead of the IPL 2022 season.

“I attempt to devise strategies for various batsmen, whether it’s slower balls, yorkers, or bouncers.”

“The rest is up to God, whether the plans work or not. Steyn advises having plans and following through on them. “

“It’s an honor to work with such a legend,” Malik was reported as speaking.
