Pakistan national women’s cricket team will host Sri Lanka women’s team for three T20Is and three ODIs.

Sri Lanka will arrive in Karachi on May 19 where they will have three days of practice sessions leading to the T20I series from May 24-28.

The national team will begin their ICC Women’s Championship campaign on June 1 with the first one-day international. This will be followed by the second ODI on June 3 and the third on June 4.

This is the third edition of the championship. In the inaugural edition from 2014-17, Pakistan stood in the seventh spot, ahead of Sri Lanka.

In the second edition from 2017-20, the national team finished ahead of New Zealand and West Indies in the fifth spot.

The national women’s team will undergo an 11-day training session at the Academy Oval ground adjacent to the National Stadium.

Pakistan will be playing their first series since 2018 when they hosted West Indies women’s team for three T20Is.

The visiting team players, officials and staff will undergo on-arrival testing to ensure Covid-19 SOPs. If anyone tests positive, they will have to complete a 5-day quarantine period.

The national side skipper Bismah Maroof said: “It is a great privilege for us to play the ICC Women’s Championship on our home soil and the side is very excited to welcome Sri Lanka. This edition provides us an opportunity to start fresh and make the most of the home advantage.

“I am sure the team will perform to their fullest potential and the Pakistan cricket fans, who have extended us great support, will get to see better and consistent results.”

Pakistan women’s team will fly to Ireland upon completion of the series to play tri-nation series, where they will go against the host and T20 World Cup champions Australia.
