The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are in conflict once again over two issues.

After the new financial model was approved, the stakeholders’ relationship improved. The possibility of going to court was dodged, but tensions have flared over the Pakistan Junior League, which is similar to the Premier League, and the delay in clearing accounts.

The introduction of the Pakistan Junior League by PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja was not well greeted by franchise owners.

Other events with the PSL, according to the owners, will harm the brand. They were also not taken seriously when the Junior League was announced. Initially, it was decided to bring up the concerns at the PCB Chairman’s meeting, but now franchisees will send a united letter.

PCB previously backed a private league in which a large sponsor purchased a team and another sponsor became involved. Franchises feel that if the same thing happens in the Junior League and there are many such instances, the popularity of the PSL would suffer as well.

The board, on the other hand, has yet to finish the accounting for the fifth and sixth editions of the PSL.

Ramiz Raja also claimed that a single franchise profited PKR 90 crore from the seventh season, however, the franchise owners refuted this claim.

They argued that since the accounts were not closed, how could anyone know the specifics of receiving such a big sum of money.

Sameen Rana, the COO of the Lahore Qalandars, was contacted about these issues from Dubai, and he responded: “The proposal of Junior League was not well received by the owners. The reports of non-finalization of PSL 5 and 6 accounts are also correct; PCB would have to do something very soon.”

Meanwhile, the PCB spokeswoman has requested a response after speaking with the appropriate personnel. When the answers are received, the correspondent will announce PCB’s viewpoint.
