Both Chelsea and Southampton will be looking forward to getting back on track after their recent match results which may dim the chances to qualify.

Southampton is at 12th spot in the Premier League standings and last registered their victory against Norwich on Feb 24. Since then they have tasted defeat three times in a row with their last match ending in a draw against Leeds.

Thomas Tuchel’s team has spent the season hovering between the teams vying for fourth place and the two title contenders: sturdy, dependable, but not nearly league champions. After losing 4-1 at home to Brentford, the Blues lost 3-1 at home to Real Madrid, putting their reputation in jeopardy.

A string of bad results might push them into contention for fourth place by the end of the season, and Tuchel knows that avoiding a terrible result here will go a long way toward ensuring that a slight blip doesn’t turn into a dismal run of form.

Hasenhuttl will be without the dynamic Armando Broja in this match because the forward is not permitted to play against his parent club. Valentino Livramento, a former Chelsea player, is anticipated to line up against his former club, with Kyle Walker-Peters or Romain Perraud available at left back.

Injury has ruled out goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and centre back Lyanco, but the Saints have a clean bill of health otherwise. Stuart Armstrong could replace Ibrahima Diallo in the midfield, despite the latter’s performance against Leeds.
