After a contentious and highly public divorce with the Buccaneers during the 2021 season, Antonio Brown remains a free agent.

However, if his wishes are granted, he may not remain inaccessible for long.

Brown announced on Twitter on May 16 that he intends to retire as a Pittsburgh Steeler, with one caveat:

Brown tweeted, “Just want to retire a Steeler.”

He later clarified in a follow-up tweet, saying, “Not Play Just (sic) Retire so we clear.”

Some questions arise here: Does Brown want to retire right now? Is he planning to play somewhere else in the near future and then retire later?

Brown played nine seasons for the Steelers until being traded to the Raiders after the 2018 season.

After not playing a single game with the silver and black, he was released over the offseason and signed with Tom Brady in New England in 2019. In 2020 and 2021, he’ll play with Brady in Tampa Bay.

Brown stated earlier this offseason that he wanted to play with the Ravens. Baltimore could use the wide receiver help, but it’s uncertain whether Pittsburgh’s AFC North opponent would welcome Brown into the fold.

One thing is certain: Brown wants to play for the Steelers for at least one more day.
