Australia has named the same roster for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, as well as their T20I tri-series with Ireland and Pakistan, as they did for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 win.

Under interim head coach Shelley Nitschke, the tri-series at the Bready Cricket Club in Northern Ireland provides great preparation for Meg Lanning’s team.

Nitschke, a prominent member of Australia’s coaching staff, takes over after Matthew Mott leaves to become England’s men’s white-ball coach.

Continuity is important in Australia’s player pool, and the team is a strong favorite to add to their trophy haul.

After dominating the 50-over format in New Zealand, Lanning’s team is also the T20 World Cup champions, having recently won a series against England and India in the format.

Outside of the squad, Tayla Vlaeminck (knee) and Georgia Wareham (ankle) continue to recover from injuries, though neither is expected to play for the majority of the Australian summer later this year.

Ellyse Perry, despite being included in the squad, is still recovering from stress fractures in her lower back and is anticipated to play only as a hitter on the tour.

According to team physio Kate Beerworth, her availability to bowl will “depend on her improvement in the following weeks and medical guidance.”

Australia’s Commonwealth Games Squad: Meg Lanning (C), Rachael Haynes (VC), Darcie Brown, Nicola Carey, Ashleigh Gardner, Grace Harris, Alyssa Healy, Jess Jonassen, Alana King, Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Amanda-Jade Wellington
