Dan Azeez realizes he is prepared for “world level” in the wake of dazzling in competing meetings with fearsome title holder Artur Beterbiev, says advertiser Ben Shalom.
Azeez became British light-heavyweight champion last year with a dazzling knockout triumph over Hosea Burton and upheld that with one more prevailing presentation against Reece Cartwright in March.
The unbeaten Lewisham warrior (16-0) is quick to proceed with his rising, and has helped Beterbiev, holder of the WBC and IBF titles, plan for his impending unification against WBO champion Joe Smith Jr, live on Sky Sports on June 18.
“That is the level he needs to get to,” Shalom said.
“I realize that Beterbiev and his camp were saying ‘you’re the following one’.
They were so intrigued with him, they were attempting to sign him. They believe he’s the following person.
“I believe it’s given him such a lot of certainty now, to the point that he feels like he can take on anybody.
“Dan’s gone out there and presently knows he’s prepared for world titles, he’s prepared for that level.
“Beterbiev couldn’t accept how skilled Dan was.”
Azeez wants to take on any of the top British names in the stacked 175lb division.
