Miami Heat have lost their lead in their Eastern Conference Finals series against the Boston Celtics for the first time, and Kyle Lowry and Max Strus didn’t help the club battle back.
Game 5 was won by Boston with a score of 93-80. They led by as many as 23 points after an abysmal start in which they trailed by five points at halftime.
The biggest story of the game, aside from the Celtics’ third-quarter rally, was Lowry and Strus’ play.
They were the Heat’s starters, and they essentially laid an egg with a historically poor performance.
The two combined for a 0-of-15 shooting percentage from the field, which is the lowest zero-field-goal game in playoff history.
While the outcome is obviously unpleasant, the fact remains that Kyle Lowry and Max Strus have been abysmal for the Heat since Game 4.
After all, in the previous game, the two had combined for only one field goal. As a result, they have gone 1-of-28 from the field in their last two games.
Even if Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are excellent players, they will not be able to win if their backcourt is ineffective.
In Game 6, the Heat still have a shot, but they can’t afford another 0-point performance from their guards. If this happens again, the Celtics will have a relatively easy day on Friday.
