Lawlor, who is now ranked No. 1 in the world for golfers with disabilities, has hammered that ball across the fairway and over the summit, and it doesn’t appear to be landing anytime soon.

Three years ago, he was adjusting to his new life as a professional athlete. Since then, the 25-year-old has created history as the first disabled golfer to compete on the European Tour, winning three straight disability tournaments through 2021, and rocketing to the top of the world disability golf rankings.

Lawlor’s most cherished moment came at the final tryouts for his country’s handicap golf European Championships squad, when he helped Prince Harry improve his swing and headlined a milestone new Tour for disabled golf.

It’s incredible — last year in Ireland, there were no disabled golfers, but this year we had a final trial with seven players, all of them were under three handicaps, which is incredible “CNN spoke with Lawlor.
“They all say, ‘We started this because… we saw you play The Belfry (on Lawlor’s European Tour debut),'” he explained. “When people try something because you paved the way for them, it gives you a warm feeling in your stomach.
