Real Madrid has made a new signing. Aurelien Tchouameni has explained why he chose the La Liga giants above any of the other elite teams to which he had been linked.

Tchouameni, one of the world’s most highly rated young players, completed his long-awaited move from Monaco to the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday for a rumored cost of €80 million (£68 million).

Many of Europe’s top clubs had been keeping tabs on the 22-year-progress old’s for some time, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain all showing an interest.

Tchouameni, on the other hand, has confessed that once Real started calling, he had no desire to go anyplace else.

‘I had the option of joining other teams, but once I heard Real Madrid wanted me, I had no doubts.’ To secure the greatest agreement for everyone, I spoke with my agent, my family, and the club [Monaco].

‘Kylian [Mbappé] stayed at Paris Saint-Germain because he knew I was leaving Monaco at the conclusion of the season and wanted to see if I would join PSG.’ But Real Madrid was always my first choice, and he understands.’

Tchouameni appears to be joining Los Blancos at the ideal time, with Carlo Ancelotti’s team winning La Liga and the Champions League in spectacular fashion last season.

While breaking into their midfield ahead of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Casemiro may be difficult at first, the French international will undoubtedly be a part of the club’s next generation of players alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde.

‘I want to leave my mark on football history, and I think Madrid is the best place to do that: the biggest club in the world, with incredible players and the best club for me,’ Tchouameni added.

‘I can now say that I’m a Real Madrid player and that’s a marvelous feeling.  I really am accomplishing a dream.’

‘I have to show my quality in training and I’m really looking forward to doing so. I try to deliver my best out on the pitch. It’s a challenge, but I can’t just focus on the World Cup in November, but on the daily training sessions and matches with Real Madrid.’
