The New York Racing Association (NYRA) on Thursday suspended Hall of Fame coach Bob Baffert for one year for clinical infringement.

Baffert will be barred from taking part in exercises at NYRA tracks until January 2023, because of the boycott time he has proactively served.

“This was an unbiased and deliberative cycle that has brought about an extended suspension of the game’s most unmistakable mentor,” NYRA President and CEO Dave O’Rourke said in a proclamation.

“This isn’t just about Bob Baffert or any one individual however about safeguarding the respectability of the game here in New York.”

Baffert was missing from the current year’s Triple Crown, serving a suspension after his pony Medina Spirit tried positive for a prohibited substance and was deprived of his triumph in the 2021 Kentucky Derby.
