The ICC Women’s Player of the Month for May 2022 has been nominated by two Pakistani stars and a promising 17-year-old.

Pakistan’s Tuba Hassan

Tuba Hassan jumped right into the worldwide spotlight like a fish in water.

She won the Player of the Series award in her debut international match, against Sri Lanka, after ending as her team’s leading wicket-taker.

Hassan made a great debut, winning the Player of the Match award in the first T20I.

She hit Anushka Sanjeewani with the second ball of her maiden over, then scalped Anushka Sanjeewani and Kavisha Dilhari to finish with spectacular figures of 3/8 on debut.

In the next two games, she picked up a wicket each, but he was frugal in his periods, allowing only 13 and 23 runs in entire spells of four overs each.

Pakistani Bismah Maroof

Bismah Maroof, the captain, took the T20I series by storm and finished with 65 runs in three games.

She walked out of all three games when her team was in trouble. Her calm 28 off 32 balls in the first match helped Pakistan get within striking distance of victory.

She batted to the finish of the remaining two matches to ensure her team’s victory.

Despite scoring only 15* off 15 pitches, she was named Player of the Match for her vital innings.
