The carnage began almost immediately after Ireland won the toss and chose to bat, and they were soon 14 for 4. The chase was a formality, though Ireland did pick up an early wicket, with Laura Wolvaardt out for 8 in the fifth over. Andrie Steyn (21 not out) and Laura Goodall (32) ensured there were no further hiccups as South Africa won by nine wickets and 204 balls.
