David Willey starred as England bowled the Netherlands out for 244 in the 50th over of the third one-day international in Amstelveen on Wednesday.

Three players hit half-centuries for the Netherlands, who reached 203-3 in the 40th over before wickets tumbled as the hosts failed to build on their solid start.

Willey was the pick of the bowlers with 4-36, while Brydon Carse took 2-49 as England looked for a series whitewash.

World champions England, who piled up a world-record total of 498-4 in the first 50-over contest before cantering to victory in the second game, will be confident they can chase down 245 with ease.

England’s out-of-form captain Eoin Morgan was ruled out of Wednesday’s match due to a minor groin injury, with Jos Buttler taking charge.

The Netherlands were boosted by the inclusion of bowlers Paul van Meekeren and Fred Klaassen, who both play for English county sides.

Neither was available for the first two games.

The Dutch lost Vikramjit Singh early but Max O’Dowd and Tom Cooper put on 72 for the second wicket before Cooper was caught on the boundary by Liam Livingstone off Carse.

Opener O’Dowd was caught behind by Buttler off Livingstone the next ball he faced after reaching his second fifty of the series.

Bas de Leede (56) was dismissed shortly after reaching his half-century as the Dutch found boundaries hard to come by.

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards reached a third consecutive half-century but wickets kept falling at the other end, slowing the home side’s momentum.

Edwards was caught by Jason Roy off debutant David Payne for 64, an innings that contained just two boundaries.
