  • German world number three Alexander Zverev went through a medical procedure on Tuesday after he had to resign from his French Open semi-last against Rafa Nadal last week.
  • The 20-year-old suffered torn tendons in his right lower leg and will miss the rest of the season.

Zverev was following 7-6(8) 6-6 against Nadal when he moved his lower leg and he shouted out in misery as he was at his most memorable match.

“One week from now I’ll arrive at a profession high positioning of number 2 on the planet, however toward the beginning of today I needed to go through a medical procedure,” Zverev said in a post on Instagram alongside a photograph of him on a clinic bed.

“After additional assessment in Germany, we got affirmation that each of the three of the horizontal tendons in my right lower leg were torn.

“To get back to contest as fast as could really be expected, to guarantee every one of the tendons recuperate appropriately, and to recover full strength in my lower leg, medical procedure was the most ideal decision.

My recovery begins now and I’ll do all that to return more grounded than any time in recent memory!”

Zverev’s sibling Mischa told German paper Bild that Wimbledon is “not feasible” for the 25-year-old, with the grasscourt significant set to be held from June 27 to July 10.
