“Creating different squads for the two formats is challenging. We need to strengthen our bench press. The right bench depth will drive players to perform admirably on a regular basis, Afridi said the media at a private gathering in Karachi.

He continued, “Pakistan squad should not focus just on Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.

Fawad Alam, a middle-order batsman, “should have been part of the squad” for the next three-match Test series against England, according to Afridi.

Fawad was benched after scoring just 33 runs in four innings of three Tests earlier this year against Australia while scoring 25 runs in his sole Test against Sri Lanka.

Even though Alam had a century on his Test debut in 2009, Pakistan cut him from the team after only two matches.

After more than ten years away from the national team, the left-hander finally made his long-awaited return during Pakistan’s tour of England in 2020.

In 19 Test matches over the course of his career, the 37-year-old has amassed 1011 runs at an average of 38.88 thanks to five hundreds and two fifty-plus scores.

The much awaited tour will see the England squad embark in Pakistan on November 27. The first Test is scheduled to start on December 1 in Rawalpindi.

Football World Cup
The 45-year-old also discussed the FIFA World Cup 2022 that is now being held in Qatar.

England and Germany are my favourite teams in the FIFA World Cup, he declared. The competition has become exciting as a result of upsets.

In their World Cup debut on Wednesday, Japan shocked Germany with a remarkable comeback.

In the meantime, England’s World Cup campaign got off to a scorching start as Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham inspired a 6-2 thrashing of underdog Iran in Monday’s Group B opening in Doha.
