For the ICC Awards 2022, Pakistan’s men’s team captain Babar Azam, batter Mohammad Rizwan, and all-rounder Nida Dar were nominated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday.
Rizwan and Dar have each received nominations for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2022 award.
Azam has made the ICC Men’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2022 Award shortlist.
In the running to win the same honour again in 2022 is last year’s winner Babar Azam.
Azam’s performance in the 50-over format throughout the year supported his ODI player rankings—since July 2021.
The 28-year-old recorded eight scores of at least 50 in his nine matches in 2022, three of which he turned into hundreds. With 679 runs at an astounding average of 84.87, he completed the year.
As the ODI squad’s captain in 2022, Babar also had a memorable year, leading his team to three straight series victories.
Mohamad Rizwan is once again vying for T20I player of the year, just like his captain. In 2021 as well, the wicketkeeper batter received the award for player of the year.
In 25 T20I matches in 2022, the right-handed hitter amassed 996 runs, made nine catches, and successfully stumped three opponents. He played an important role for the Pakistan T20 team and continued his stellar play from his record-breaking year in T20Is in 2021. In men’s T20Is, only Suryakumar Yadav scored more runs than Rizwan throughout the year.
Rizwan scored 175 runs in the T20 World Cup, the joint-most by a Pakistani batsman, and hit 10 half-centuries in 2022.
For a little period in 2022, Rizwan also held the top spot among hitters in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings. He earns 836 rating points to finish the year at No. 2.
