The oldest daughter of Brazilian football star Pele said that her father is still fighting an advanced cancer in a hospital in Sao Paulo.

Kely Cristina Nascimento shared a picture of herself cuddling up to the 82-year-old in an Instagram post.

“In the struggle and in the faith, we remain. one more joint evening, “In a note that was attached to the picture, Nascimento stated.

In order to treat a respiratory infection and reevaluate chemotherapy, Pele was hospitalised to the Albert Einstein medical centre late last month.

Nascimento revealed on Wednesday that her father would spend Christmas in the hospital because he needed “more comprehensive care” according to the doctors.

Kylian Mbappe of France, who urged his supporters to “pray for the King,” is one among thousands who have sent messages of support to Pele in recent weeks.

Following their victory over South Korea in the World Cup round of 16 on December 5 in Doha, Brazil’s players held a huge banner with an image of Pele and his name.

Neymar, a Brazilian forward, broke Pele‘s all-time Brazil scoring record of 77 goals during the World Cup.

In his most recent Instagram post, Pele hailed Lionel Messi and the South American team for their “earned” victory following Argentina’s victory against France in the World Cup final on Sunday.

Pele, who is widely regarded as the best player to ever play the game of football, is the only player to have captured the World Cup three times, in 1958, 1962, and 1970.

He has experienced a number of health challenges in recent years, including issues with his spine, hip, knee, and kidneys. The former Santos and New York Cosmos star had intestinal surgery last year to remove a malignancy.
