Imam-ul-Haq, the Pakistani team’s opener, reached a new career milestone on Friday by scoring his 1,000th Test run during Pakistan’s first innings against England.

Imam received the honour while taking part in his 17th Test match of his cricket career. Imam made a shot in the 18th over to reach 1,000 runs before being bowled by Will Jacks. The left-hander has played for Pakistan in 54 ODIs and two T20Is during his career and has two centuries and four fifties in Test cricket.

In a batting display that set records, four of England’s top five batters scored quick hundreds against Pakistan. With England in scintillating form on their first test visit of Pakistan since 2005, 500 runs were achieved on the opening day for the first time in test cricket history.

Suraj Randiv, an off-spinner for Sri Lanka, gave up 222 against India in Colombo in 2010.
