Wasim Akram, legend in Pakistani cricket and a former ODI World Champion, will be present at the December 23 Lanka Premier League (LPL) championship match.
Akram, often known as the Sultan of Swing, is one of the most well-known names in cricket. One of the best fast bowlers of all time, the brand ambassador of the Lanka Premier League has taken 916 international wickets.
“My association with the Lanka Premier League has been terrific. I am excited to see the final. I have been following the league and have seen some superb performances from young domestic players. Congratulations to IPG and Sri Lanka Cricket for successfully hosting the tournament in a short span of time,” Akram was quoted as saying in a release on Tuesday.
The official promoter of LPL and founder of IPG, Anil Mohan, said, “Wasim Akram‘s confirmation of his participation in the championship match excites us. He has served as a role model for a number of young people, and I am confident that these young athletes will get the chance to speak with him and gain knowledge from his expertise.” When discussing how the LPL is enhancing the nation’s economy, he said, “This competition is a fantastic addition to the domestic cricket schedule and has unearthed some outstanding talent.
We have the perfect setting to identify and develop the top cricket talent. In the upcoming years, I have no doubt that several LPL players will play for the national cricket team.” Samantha, the event’s director, said: “We are anticipating Wasim Akram‘s appearance in the championship match. I wish the league’s talented young players the best of luck in the future.”
