Hashim Amla, a renowned batter from South Africa, announced the end of his professional career in the media.

Amla announced his retirement on Wednesday. He played for South Africa in 124 Tests, 181 ODIs, and 44 T20Is.

“I have great memories of the Oval ground and to finally leave it as a player fills me with immense gratitude for what has been,” said Amla who played his last County season for Surrey.

One of the best batters of the present time is a right-handed batter. Over the course of his more than 20-year career, he amassed 34,104 runs across all categories.

Amla set a lot of records for his nation. He achieved a triple century in 2012, becoming the first Proteas hitter to ever do so. At the Oval, he defeated England with 311 runs.

Alec Stewart, the ambassador for the Surrey County Club, lauded Amla and offered his congratulations on a career well-lived.

“Hashim is a fantastic cricketer and a wonderful person. He has been an incredible resource for the team to learn from on and off the field,

“I can’t thank him enough for what he has done for Surrey and hold him up as an example to all young players of what a true professional looks like,” he said.
