PAK vs NZ: At lunchtime on the second day of the second Test between New Zealand and Pakistan at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi, the Black Caps’ score stood at 433-9.

Pakistan was unable to score a win after tailenders Ajaz Patel (31) and Matt Henry (56) put up 88 runs without losing a wicket.

During the morning session, Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed grabbed two wickets and Naseem Shah took one.

Salman 3-55 and Naseem 2-44 triggered a New Zealand middle order slump that saw the tourists fall from 234-1 to 279-6.

“We did win the first two sessions, but Pakistan is back in the game now because of how they came back in the last session,” Conway said.

During his 257 minutes at the crease, Conway hit 16 fours and a six.

Salman then struck again, beating Daryl Mitchell for 3 and catching Henry Nicholls behind for 26.

Salman, who took 100 wickets, remarked, “Whenever I get to bowl I want to contribute.”

“Once this pitch dried, it turned more than the one utilised in the first Test.”

With a catch in the gully, Abrar Ahmed claimed his maiden wicket, Michael Bracewell.

Since the first Test, also played in Karachi, finished in a draw, the series is tied at 0 all.

In the morning, Pakistan’s three-pronged pace attack seemed impotent until Naseem trapped Latham leg-before with a crisp entering delivery.

Latham smashed nine fours in his 100-ball knock in the opening game, giving him his 24th Test half-century overall.

When Saud Shakeel dropped Hasan Ali’s errant drive on 89, Conway was fortunate to escape with very little damage.

In the ninth over, Pakistan brought in Abrar Ahmed, but he showed little signs of turning the ball as Conway hit four runs and six runs off his over.

Naseem and Hasan replaced Nauman Ali and Mohammad Wasim after the first Test, while New Zealand chose Matt Henry over Neil Wagner.
