PSL 2023: Quetta has been disqualified as the fifth venue for the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will begin next month.

According to a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) representative, numerous factors, chief among them the harsh weather in the city, prevented some PSL matches from being held at the Bugti Stadium in Quetta.

“We are grateful to everyone who assisted the PCB in making all-out efforts to organise PSL matches in Quetta. Following the declaration by PCB Management Committee head Najam Sethi, we dispatched a special team to Quetta with the goal of making special arrangements to organise certain PSL matches there,” the official explained.

“The team held consultations with all the involved parties in Quetta but came to the conclusion that this fall it would not be possible to organise matches in the city. We are grateful to everyone, particularly the Corps Commander and the Provincial Administration, for their help, but we have decided that PSL matches will not be held there this year.

“The primary cause is harsh weather in Quetta, as well as a delay in beginning preparations for the spectacular.”

The official, on the other hand, was hopeful of organising warm-up or exhibition matches at the site, with the intention of making Quetta a permanent PSL venue starting next year.

“I believe that starting in 2024, Quetta can become a permanent host for PSL contests,” the source stated.

‘The News’ has learned, however, that one of the points raised was the effective beaming of PSL matches and the technicalities involved.

“Sethi and other Board members worked hard to bring the PSL to Quetta. “We are confident that the PSL nine matches can be organised in Quetta in an efficient and professional manner, and we intend to begin preparations as soon as possible,” the official stated.

The PCB official expressed optimism for playing some of the games in Peshawar the next season.

The official stated, “In addition to Quetta, we also want to hold some PSL 9 matches in Peshawar.”

Lahore, Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi will now serve as the locations for PSL 2023 matches, which will begin in February.
