PSL 2023: The replacement draft for Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 8 will take held today at 7 o’clock (PST).
Prior to a statewide power outage on January 23, which delayed the draft for replacement players to January 24, franchises asked for an extra day to make their selections.
At 7 p.m. today, the draft will be broadcast live on the PSL’s official YouTube account (PST).
Harry Brook, who would miss the entire tournament owing to national duty, will have a permanent replacement chosen by Lahore Qalandars. Jordan Cox and Rashid Khan will be partially replaced by Qalandars in the meanwhile since they will miss the first three games.
Adil Rashid of England will also be absent from PSL 8, thus his team, Multan Sultans, will choose a replacement today. Additionally, the Sultans will select part-time replacements for Tim David, David Miller, and Akeal Hussain from the West Indies (Australia).
The partial replacements for Alex Hales (England), Moeen Ali (England), Rahmanullah Garbaz (Afghanistan), and Fazalhaq Farooqui for Islamabad United, two-time winners, would be (Afghanistan). Peshawar Zalmi, the 2017 PSL champions, will turn to Mujeeb-ur-Rahman (Afghanistan) and Rovman Powell as partial replacements (West Indies).
Additionally, the Quetta Gladiators will choose partial replacements for Odean Smith, Jason Roy, and Waninidu Hasaranga (all of whom are from England), among others (West Indies).
To complete their 20-player squads, each franchise will also choose two players from the supplemental category.
The PSL 8 will begin on February 13 with the inaugural match between the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 winners Multan Sultans at the Multan Cricket Stadium following the first-ever opening ceremony at this location.
