As Indian tennis star Sania Mirza announced her retirement from Grand Slam competition, her husband, Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, posted a heartfelt message for her.
The 36-year-old athlete, who won her first Grand Slam 18 years ago, competed in the final Australian Open event of her career earlier today.
The cricketer described Mirza as “hope for all women in sports,” and said he was proud of everything she has accomplished in her long career.
The Pakistan cricketer stated on Instagram: “You are a beacon of hope for all female athletes. I am extremely proud of you for all that you have accomplished in your career. Keep going, you’re an inspiration to many. Congratulations on an incredible career…”
