ENG vs NZ: The second Test in Wellington will be won by England if they score 258 runs, according to record-breaker Kane Williamson, who batted a magnificent century on Monday to lead New Zealand to 483 all out in their second innings.

The hosts fought back after being asked to continue at the Basin Reserve thanks to former captain Williamson’s 132-run performance, and Tom Blundell was the last man out with a score of 90.

At stumps, England was 48-1 in their second innings after opener Zak Crawley, who was on 24, was dismissed by Tim Southee of New Zealand with a delivery that nipped back.

On Tuesday’s final day, England needs 210 more runs to win the series 2-0 with Ben Duckett unbeaten on 23, and nigh watchman Ollie Robinson on 1.

“We’re looking forward to chasing that (target) down tomorrow,” England spinner Jack Leach, who took 5-157, said.

“We know how we want to go about it and it’s a case of us sticking to that process. We have faith.”

Only the fourth victory by a side following on in Test cricket history is required for New Zealand to square the two-match series.

The historic bid by New Zealand would be “pretty special,” Williamson said.

“It’s pretty exciting going into day five and we want to make sure our bowling is on. “Everything is up for grabs.”
