On Sunday, FC Barcelona will host Sevilla and Real Madrid will travel to Mallorca as they continue their fight for La Liga.

Due to their involvement in the Supercup in January, both teams’ games against Betis and Valencia this past week were won by both teams, putting Barcelona five points ahead of Madrid and six points ahead of Real Sociedad.

On Sunday at noon, Real Madrid will play its first game away at Mallorca, who have won their last three home games by a score of 1-0. Even though Javier Aguirre’s team has only scored 15 goals thus far this season, they have only given up 18 goals in 19 games, making them difficult to break down.

Real Madrid’s endurance will be put to the test because they had little time to recover after playing Valencia on Thursday night. Karim Benzema and Eder Militao, who suffered muscular injuries on Thursday and joined Lucas Vazquez and Ferland Mendy on the injury list, are unable to travel to the island due to the busy match schedule.

On Saturday, Benzema and Militao will have examinations for their wounds in the hopes that they will be able to join the rest of the Madrid team in Morocco for the Club World Cup.

If Madrid makes it to the final of that event, they will play two additional matches the following week, pushing back their league encounter against Elche from this coming Saturday to February 15.

Sevilla travels to Camp Nou after two victories helped them move out of the bottom three, but they will enter the match against Cadiz on Sunday only two points ahead of them and still have a lot of work to do.

In place of the injured Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha put on his greatest performance in weeks as Barca defeated Betis 2-1 on Wednesday.

Sevilla’s goalkeeper of choice will once again be Robert Lewandowski, despite the fact that Pedri, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong all made significant contributions to Barca’s midweek performance in both attack and defence, which helped to explain why the team has only allowed seven league goals all season.

The hope is that another clean sheet will pave the way to three more points and a well-deserved rest before another hectic stretch of games until the end of March, even though Barca hasn’t been very effective in attack recently.
