PAK vs IND: India thrashed Pakistan by win in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 opener at Newlands in Cape Town on Sunday.

Pakistan decided to bat first and put up 149 runs before India was able to reach the goal in 19 overs.

India’s top performer was Jemimah Rodrigues, who scored 53 runs off of 38 balls to assist her team reach the target.

The right-handed batter finished the run by launching two straight fours.

Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma, the two opening pitchers, scored 17 and 33 runs, respectively.

Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain, only managed to score 16 runs before being bowled by Nashra Sandhu, who also took two wickets.

After the captain left, the in-form Jemimah and Richa Gosh put together a 53-run combination for the fourth wicket to finish off an outstanding run-chase that was the second-highest chase in the Women’s T20 World Cup.

In addition to Sandhu, Sadia Iqbal also took a wicket for Pakistan.

Ayesha Naseem and captain Bismah Maroof shone earlier as Pakistan scored a respectable 149 runs against India.

In 7.3 overs, Pakistan was down to 43-3, but Bismah rose to the challenge, scoring 68 runs off 55 balls, including seven boundaries.

The left-handed tried to form a partnership, but Sidra Ameen and Nida Dar were unable to occupy the crease for very long.

However, Bismah and the team benefited by Ayesha’s presence at the wicket as they were able to put together an 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

Ayesha hit two maximums and an equal number of boundaries in her scorching 43 runs off 25 balls.

Radha Yadav took two wickets for India, while Pooja Vastrakar and Deepti Sharma each claimed one.
