Jason Roy, a dangerous batsman for England, has expressed his desire for his team Quetta Gladiators to win the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

When the players were retained by the Gladiators in November 2022, Roy and Iftikhar Ahmed were both kept in the Diamond category.

Jason expressed his excitement at joining the Purple Force in a video the Gladiators sent to their official Twitter account. He also expressed his goal to win the championship this year.

“I am so excited to join up with the Purple Force. We have been playing some good cricket in our warm-up game, and I am excited to get over there. We have got together an incredible squad,” Roy said.

“Excited to be opening the batting with Martin Guptill. Hasaranga is among our ranks. Of course, there is no forgetting our local talent. We have got a very good squad, coaches, and backroom staff. Let’s hope it’s our year, and we can get that trophy. See you very soon, guys. Cheers!” he added.

Roy was the Gladiators’ eighth-highest run scorer last year despite joining them late in the competition, scoring 303 runs at an average of 50.5 in six matches.

Guptill had before expressed excitement in working with Roy.

“I am most excited to link up with the destructive Jason Roy. It’s gonna be fun and fireworks. Pakistan, mai araha hoon [Pakistan, I am coming],” he added.

On February 15, the Gladiators will begin their PSL season at the Multan Cricket Stadium against the Multan Sultans, who finished second in 2022.

The PSL 8 opening ceremony will take place in Multan on February 13 before the tournament’s first match between the defending champions Lahore Qalandars and the 2021 champion Multan Sultans; the closing ceremony and final will take place on March 19 in Lahore, which will also host the play-offs.

Eleven games will be played in Rawalpindi, nine games each in Karachi and Lahore, and five games in Multan.
