Hamad Abdulaziz has been recognized as the owner of the world record.
Qatar hosted the smallest FIFA World Cup in history.
The record-holder revealed that his brother drove him between the bouts.
For watching 44 of the 64 games during the Qatar World Cup 2022, Hamad Abdulaziz, a football aficionado from Qatar, has been recognized as the owner of a special world record for “most matches attended at a single football FIFA World Cup by an individual”
Without a doubt, the 39-year-participation old’s in a single FIFA World Cup competition was the result of careful planning, and it is unlikely to be topped anytime soon.
Qatar hosted the smallest FIFA World Cup in the history of the competition, with all eight stadiums being just one hour’s drive from the heart of Doha.
With three hours between each kickoff, Qatar hosted four games each day. According to The Peninsula Qatar, the trip between Al Janoub in Al Wakrah and Al Bayt in Al Khor was the longest distance between stadiums at 75 km. All stadiums were connected by bus and subway systems.
Hamad, a coach with the Generation Awesome Foundation, claimed that as a young child, he had aspirations of competing in the World Cup.
“… and as the kick-off approached, I found a way of being part of the tournament’s success while showing how well everything was organised and how easy it was to get from one stadium to another,” he told The Peninsula Qatar.

Hamad got in touch with Guinness World Records ahead of time to make sure he would meet their requirements. The papers had to be signed before kickoff and after the game in order for him to verify that he showed there for the whole of every game.
The record-holder revealed that his brother drove him between the bouts, which assisted him throughout the process. As a person could only attend a maximum of three matches per day, he claimed that there were numerous “close calls.”
He “was able to break the record, even with just an hour between the end of one match and the start of another.”according to his brother.
He found it challenging to persuade fans of losing teams to confirm his attendance. He claimed that occasionally the witness would leave the scene before the game was over, leaving him without a witness signature. He described the experience as giving him “endless headaches,” but he soon realised that each match required more than three witnesses.
The majority of individuals, including his friends who assisted him in purchasing tickets, were quite supportive, the man said with joy.
In 2017, Hamad enrolled in Generation Awesome, a programme for social and human legacy. A graduate of Hamad bin Khalifa University with a master’s degree in Islamic finance, he had previously worked in the banking industry. He shifted his career focus in 2017. With the initiative, which uses soccer to teach valuable life skills to marginalised populations, Hamad serves as a master coach.
Hamad considers himself lucky to have contributed to the success of the competition.
He stated he was delighted to have contributed to the development of the nation, “From helping Generation Amazing achieve 1 million beneficiaries to breaking the world record for attending matches”
