After Azam Khan of Islamabad United’s amazing knock against Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing eighth season of the Pakistan Premier League (PSL) on Friday, former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi poured admiration on him.

Azam Khan shone as Islamabad United set Quetta Gladiators a lofty aim of 221 runs.

Azam scored 97 runs in 42 balls, including eight maximums and nine boundaries. For the fifth wicket, the wicketkeeper-batsman and Asif Ali put together an incredible 98-run partnership off just 45 balls to put their team back in the game.

Azam’s innings were praised by Afridi, also known as Boom Boom. He tweeted, “Well done Azam Khan boom boom innings, courageous.”

By choosing to bat first, Islamabad set a lofty 221-run mark on the scoreboard before dismissing Quetta for 157 in 19.1 overs, all because of Azam’s outstanding batting performance and the bowlers’ outstanding performance.

Quetta struggled to get going in their response to the large score as they quickly lost wickets.

With a critical 48-run innings off just 26 balls, seasoned all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez helped a faltering Quetta get back on its feet.

Hafeez’s innings resulted in a 69-run partnership for the fourth wicket with captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Iftikhar Ahmed made an effort to assume leadership, but he was unsuccessful. Before being dismissed by Hasan Ali, the right-handed batsman scored 39 runs off of 27 balls.

Shadab Khan and Abrab Ahmed both took two victims for Islamabad, while Fazalhaq Farooqi and Hasan Ali each grabbed three wickets.
