A young Syrian boy who had expressed his desire to meet Cristiano Ronaldo to rescue workers following a devastating earthquake in February finally got his wish on Friday after being given the opportunity to watch his club Al Nassr play in Saudi Arabia.
Following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, Nabil Saeed pleaded with Syrian rescuers in a video posted on social media last month.
The earthquake has claimed the lives of more than 50,000 people. More than 5,900 people have died in Syria, according to the authorities.
Before the game, a beaming Saeed briefly met the Portuguese forward and gave him a hug and a high-five.
“When I first saw Ronaldo, I believed I was dreaming. I did not trust myself. I had no idea when this dream would end. Saeed told Reuters, “I pray to God that it won’t be a dream.
