Asia Lions, headed by Shahid Afridi, defeated India Maharajas by 85 runs on Saturday to go to the final of Legends League Cricket (LLC) in Qatar.
Former international bowlers for Pakistan, Lions, who had set Maharajas a target of 192 runs, bowled masterfully.
With the help of two wickets each from Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Hafeez, and Abdur Razzaq, the Lions were able to dismiss the Gautam Gambhir-led Maharajas for 106 runs. Bowlers contributed to the Lions’ 85-run triumph.
Before losing to Hafeez, Gambhir scored the most runs, 32.
Upul Tharanga, the opener for the Lions, earlier set the tone for Maharajs by scoring fifty runs off just 31 balls. Asghar Afghan hit 34 runs and Hafeez scored 38 runs to assist the Lions amass 191-5 in 20 overs.
Pragyan Ojha and Stuart Binny each claimed two wickets for the Maharajas.
On March 20, the Lions and World Giants will play in the LLC championship game.
