Tom Latham will lead New Zealand in the one-day international series against Sri Lanka with a number of Black Caps stars released to their Indian Premier League clubs.

The white-ball games taking place at Auckland’s Eden Park on March 25, Christchurch three days later, and Hamilton on March 31 will be led by Latham.

According to New Zealand Cricket, Kane Williamson (Gujarat Titans), Tim Southee (Kolkata Knight Riders), Devon Conway, and Mitchell Santner (both Chennai Super Kings) are unavailable.

After the second Test against Sri Lanka, which begins in Wellington on Friday, the four will join their Indian teams.

During a final day in Christchurch that was delayed by rain, Williamson led New Zealand to a thrilling last-ball victory against Sri Lanka in the maiden Test on Monday.

Black Caps coach Gary Stead has added South African-born hitter Chad Bowes and seamer Ben Lister to the ODI team due to the absence of a number of players.

Lister made his Twenty20 debut in India last month, while Bowes is making his first Black Caps appearance.

After the ODI series, New Zealand will host Sri Lanka in three Twenty20 games.

Tom Latham (captain), Finn Allen, Tom Blundell, Chad Bowes, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Ben Lister, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Henry Shipley, Ish Sodhi, Blair Tickner, and Will Young make up the ODI squad to take on Sri Lanka.
