Lahore Qalandars defeated Peshawar Zalmi by four wickets in the Eliminator 2 of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight on Friday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

On Saturday (tomorrow), defending champions Lahore will face Multan Sultans in a rematch of the 2022 final at the same venue.

Lahore completed the 172-run target in 18.5 overs.

Lahore lost Fakhar Zaman (6) early in the game after he castled while attempting to play a big heave.

Azmatullah Omarzai was the winning bowler.

Meanwhile, in his first PSL match, Ahsan Hafeez dropped a simple catch to wicketkeeper Haseebullah after top-edging a ball from Wahab Riaz. In 10 pitches, the left-hander scored 15 runs.

Abdullah Shafique was fired after a major misunderstanding with Mirza Tahir Baig. The right-hander had a run-a-ball total of ten.

Shafique’s departure brought Sam Billings to the crease, where he and Tahir resurrected Lahore’s chase with a crucial 50-run partnership in only 28 balls.

Tahir, on the other hand, was dismissed after reaching his maiden T20 fifty, with Aamer Jamal taking the decisive scalp. He hit seven fours and two sixes to score 54 runs in 42 balls.

Salman Irshad’s superb yorker cleaned up Billings. In 21 balls, he scored 28 valuable runs. Sikandar Raza, on the other hand, scored 22 runs in 13 balls.

In the 19th over, Shaheen Afridi hit a six and a four to get his team over the line.

Peshawar had earlier scored 171-5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Pacer Zaman Khan broke Saim Ayub’s (9) stumps with a delivery that darted back in off the pitch, providing an early breakthrough.

Following the early setback, Babar Azam and Mohammad Haris combined for 89 runs in 60 balls for the second wicket, putting Peshawar in command of the match.

Rashid Khan took two wickets in the same over to send Babar (42 off 36) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (0) back to the pavilion, just when Lahore needed them.

Haris, on the other hand, kept playing shots with ease and went on to score 85 runs in 54 balls. His innings featured 11 fours and two sixes.

Shaheen was expensive with the ball, conceding 41 runs in four overs but sending Haris back to the pavilion on his final delivery.

With figures of 2-20 in three overs, Zaman was the pick of the bowlers for Lahore.
