Wasim Akram, the head coach of Karachi and a former cricketer, praised Mohammad Amir’s on-field aggression on Friday, saying it “spices up the game” in response to the harsh criticism the bowler of the Karachi Kings had received.

Amir, who plays for Karachi in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), was criticised online when he showed hostility towards kids like Muhammad Haris and Hassan Nawaz.

In an interview, the head coach addressed the situation and stated: “I believe we have too much free time. I’m all for it. You need characters and a little rivalry. Given what Amir has been saying as a bowler, I support him wholeheartedly “said he.

Akram thinks that cordial behaviour shouldn’t be permitted during competition. The formerly flamboyant bowler questioned the purpose of hugging and shaking hands with the batsman before a PSL game or any other game.

He added, “Okay, before the game or after the game, I am all for it but during the game, be professional and these little words off the field also add spice to PSL that’s the beauty of PSL,”

Finally, Akram, the Pakistani bowler with the most international wickets, gave advice to revel in this healthy on-field rivalry.

We ought to take pleasure in it rather than criticise it incessantly and separately, he said.

Amir is now the PSL 2023’s fifth-best bowler. Usama Mir of the Multan Sultans, who is positioned in fourth place due to a higher average, and he both have nine wickets.
