Shaheen Afridi shatters bowling record against Bangladesh
In the ongoing match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi made a record as he took his 100th ODI career wicket.
The pacer did so in just 51 innings which surpasses the record held previously by Australia’s Mitchell Starc. He achieved the milestone in 52 innings.
The stint came after he dismissed The Tigers’ opener, Tanzid Ahmed.

It is also worth mentioning that Afridi also surpasses as the fastest to 100 wickets among the Pakistani bowlers. The previous record was held by former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq who achieved so in 53 matches.
It is to be noted that Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. But the opening pair fell to the young pacer Afridi as he is currently bowling the powerplay spell alongside Iftikhar Ahmed. He has taken two wickets so far and conceded only 1 run.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh skipper Shakin Al Hasan opted to bat first. But they lost their opening wickets early on as Afridi struck. He dismissed Tnzid and Najmul Hossain Shanto.
In the must-win match for Bangladesh, they brought back Towhid Hirdoy in place of Mahedi Hasan after their loss to the Netherlands.
Pakistan made three changes by bringing in Fakhar Zaman, Usama Mir, and Agha Salman. Shadab Khan has been left out again as he recovers from the injury he sustained during the match with South Africa. Out-of-form Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Nawaz have also been benched.
With only two wins from six matches played, Pakistan needs to win today’s and two remaining matches to keep their hopes of semifinals alive.
