Here is the weather update of Benglauru ahead of PAK-NZ clash
Although rain is predicted for Pakistan vs. New Zealand’s ICC Cricket World Cup match here on Saturday, the stadium’s grounds crew is optimistic that the facility is set up to avoid water logging in the outfield.
Meteorological forecasting organizations indicate that rain is expected in Bengaluru on Saturday between 1 and 5 p.m. 50% of the radar points to rain.
Given that the game is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. local time, any rain is likely to have an impact on the second half of the contest.
The grounds crew, however, is optimistic that the field will be prepared for play in 20 minutes following the rain.
The rain in Bengaluru on Friday also had an impact on New Zealand’s training session.
According to a representative of Chinnaswamy Stadium, the outfield is protected from water logging via a “Sub Air System” buried in the ground that drains water 36 times quicker than it would naturally. This information was provided to Geo News.
“The SubAir system automatically kicks into action the minute it starts raining, thereby not allowing any buildup of water on the outfield. It quickly removes standing water (36 times faster than drainage by gravity) virtually eliminating the need for extended game delays or cancellations due to wet outfield conditions,” says the official website of the system.
“The SubAir system automatically kicks into action the minute it starts raining, thereby not allowing any buildup of water on the outfield. Water begins to get sucked out at the rate of over 10,000 litres a minute from the moment it begins to rain. The suction system gets activated through signals from the remote sensors embedded in the field,” an official of SubAir system had revealed at the time of its installation at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy stadium.
