In a major development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the names of the new captains for the national team across all three formats of the game. Left-handed batter Shan Masood will lead the side in Test cricket, while left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi will take over the captaincy responsibilities in ODIs and T20Is.

The decision to appoint Masood and Afridi as captains comes following the resignation of Babar Azam earlier in the day. Babar had stepped down as captain of all three formats, citing the need for a fresh start and a change in leadership.

Masood, who has played 25 Tests for Pakistan, is seen as a mature and level-headed leader with a good understanding of the game. He is also a prolific run-scorer, having scored over 1,500 runs in Test cricket at an average of over 35.

Afridi, on the other hand, is a young and energetic leader who has already captained the national team in the absence of Babar. He is a world-class bowler and a fierce competitor, and is expected to bring a new dimension to Pakistan’s white-ball cricket.

The PCB has expressed its confidence in both Masood and Afridi, and believes that they are the right men to lead Pakistan cricket forward. The board has also thanked Babar Azam for his contributions as captain, and wished him all the best for his future endeavors.

The appointment of Masood and Afridi is a significant step in Pakistan’s cricket rejuvenation process. Both players are highly talented and experienced, and are expected to bring a new energy and enthusiasm to the national team.
