In preparation for the second Test against Australia, which gets underway in Melbourne on December 26, Pakistan is probably going to make three changes.

Sources state that all-rounder Faheem Ashraf, wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed, and injured bowler Khurram Shahzad will not be included in the starting lineup.

Mohammad Rizwan will take the place of Sarfaraz, who only managed seven runs in the first Test and missed a few opportunities behind the wickets. Faheem is probably going to make way for spinner Sajid Khan. Khurram will be replaced in the interim by one of Hasan Ali or Mir Hamza.

It should be mentioned that Khurram’s stress fracture in his left tenth rib and his torn abdominal muscle have prevented him from playing in the remaining Tests of the series, as per the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In the Perth Test, the right-armer made his debut and took five wickets in the innings.

Australia defeated Pakistan handily in the opening match of the three-Test series. Pakistan lost the match by 360 runs after being assigned a target of 450 in the fourth inning, folding for a pitiful 89 in 30.2 overs.

In their first inning, the visitors were bowled for 271 in response to Australia’s 487.

In the first Test in Perth, Pakistan was also penalized for continuing to overrate slowly against Australia. Two ICC World Test Championship points were subtracted from the visitors’ total, and they were fined 10% of their match cost.

Pakistan and Victoria will now square off in a two-day practice match on December 22–23. Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the series’ second Test from December 26 to 30.
