At the University of Otago Oval in Dunedin on Tuesday, the Pakistani women’s cricket team made history by defeating the ladies of New Zealand and winning their first-ever series against the White Ferns.

Prior to the start of December 2023, New Zealand women’s T20I record against Pakistan women was 8-0.

But for Pakistani girls, two consecutive games turned everything around.

At the same location, the Girls in Green defeated their opponents by 10 runs in the second game to take a commanding 2-0 lead after winning the first by seven wickets.

Pakistan reduced the hosts to 127/7 after they were able to reach 137/6.

Aalia Riaz scored 32 off of 22 for Pakistan, with three shots to the fence and one over the boundary. The first player, Muneeba Ali, scored 35.

After some disciplined bowling from the Pakistanis, Georgia Pimmer and Hamma Rowe fought back and tried to get the hosts back into the game, but ultimately, New Zealand was 89/6.

They were still 10 runs short, though, as Fatima Sana held off 17 off the final over.

Sadia Iqbal sent two players back to the pavilion, although she took three wickets.

Pakistan defeated the Kiwis by seven wickets at the same venue on Sunday in the first game of the series, and this is their second victory against them.

The Pakistani bowling assault appeared to be overwhelming the home team, and despite a never-ending effort, they were only able to score 127-6 in the given overs.

Pakistan knew they had a manageable amount to chase, so they played carefully and didn’t lose wickets in the early overs while chasing the target of 128 runs.
