Virat Kohli achieved his eighth century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday.

The 35-year-old further solidified his record as the player with the most centuries in the IPL.

Kohli, the RCB batter, showcased excellent form at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur, leading his team to a total of 183 runs after batting first. Kohli was the anchor of the innings, remaining consistent till the end.

The acclaimed batsman concluded the innings with 113 runs from 72 balls. He hit 11 boundaries and four sixes during his innings. Kohli reached the century mark in 67 balls.

The century against RR indicates that Kohli has now registered the joint-slowest century in IPL history. He also holds the record for the most deliveries taken to score a century on Indian soil.

“The wicket looks quite different from the outside. It feels like it’s flat, but the ball is holding up in the pitch. One of us (Virat or Faf) had to bat till the end. I knew I couldn’t get over aggressive and had to keep the bowlers guessing,” Kohli told the broadcaster after his knock.
